On being God's masterpiece

As I came down this morning one of those Godcidences in life made me pick up a package I have purposelessly left in my pidge waiting to take it to the post office. A week or so ago a friend of mind, mother of one small child living in San Sebastian, Spain asked me if I knew of a child's prayer book or bible that could help her son learn to pray. A few minutes later I was searching through the Catholic Mother's website for a toddler-appropriate bible or prayer book. During my interviews with mom's I spoke to the founder of Catholic Mother's. A community with a website and currently online activities that was created because there was lack of resources for catholic parents to aid them in their prayer lives that worked with lives with small children. With time, quite predictably, it has begun providing sources for how to teach children about their faith and how to pray. So when my friend asked me I thought of this website and I did in fact find a toodler-friendly Bible but as it does not ship to Spain I told her to ship to my house and then I would send it over to Spain.

This moment with the package came right before I sat down to record a voice memo for the Feminine Genuis podcast as the host Rachel has asked for contributions. I had been thinking about what to say if I was going to say anything at all. I wondered if I should discuss my research or my work for a theology institute (the Margaret Beaufort Institute) which is focused on women in theology but when I saw this envelope -something I had not noticed when it first arrived- I realised that if I was going to saying anything I had to mention this. When I think of how we are made, how our bodies function, especially at the time of conception, pregnancy, and childbirth, the perfect hand that created us becomes clear. On a spiritual level, when we read about God's relationship to the people of Israel, then the coming of Jesus, and the development of thought, philosophy and doctrine around the person of Jesus and all other people on earth, highlight how we really are God's masterpiece.
